Meet your guide at the airport or your location and begin exploring the geography of Mesopotamia.
On your way to Mount Nemrut, you will visit the 'Karakus Tumulus', also known as the 'Kara Kuş Mezarı Mound', a monumental tomb built in 36 BC.
You will also cross the Cendere Bridge, an ancient Roman bridge built remarkably well and still in use today. Take photos of the ancient Roman Severan Bridge and visit the Arsemia ruins, dating back to 200 BC, to learn about the Kingdom of Commagene.
The region between the Taurus Mountains and the Euphrates River was called Commagene during the Greek and Roman periods. Commagene was founded as an independent kingdom by Mithridates I Kalinikos in 162 BC. The kingdom experienced its most glorious period during the reign of Antiochus I (69-36 BC), who succeeded Mithridates. Most of the archaeological remains that have survived to this day date from the time of Antiochus I, including the tumulus at the summit of Mount Nemrut, which still holds its secrets. At the summit of this 200-meter-high cone-shaped mountain are statues of Apollo, Zeus, Hercules, and other mythological figures.
Mount Nemrut, the highest point in the region at 2150 meters, offers spectacular views for sunrise or sunset, while the heads of the statues scattered across the mountain add a mystical atmosphere to the scene.
You will have free time for lunch, and your guide will recommend the best places to sample local delicacies.
Following the tour, you will be transferred to Şanlıurfa or Adıyaman airport for your return flight.
